worms in sand
I have some worms of some sort in the sand bed of my 200 gal reef tank. They push small hills of sand up that look much like ant hills and have very fine red hair like tentacles sticking up out of the sand. Tonight I observed one poking up out of the sand and giving off a cloudy grey discharge into the tank. I have been wondering what these are and if they are harmful to reef inhabitants. I have lost about 50 hermit crabs and many of my snails over the last couple months.
Does anyone know what these worms are and if they are harmful. If they are harmful, how do I get rid of them? I have removed several by scooping them up with a large spoon.
