White spots with hairy legs
I am a long time aquarium keeper but have less saltwater experience than freshwater. I set up a new tank a few weeks ago and have added some really good looking live rock-that is to say it seems to have a lot of nice growth of differing micro organisms. I have allowed the tank to run with only live...

Can a tank have too much purple algae?
The purple "algae", or at least I belive it is algea…is really covering everything and it seems to be affecting the coral. Should I be worried and/or is there something I need to do? The rest is here: Can a tank have too much purple algae?

I just set up my first saltwater tank a few days ago, i am using a beginners pH and Alk test kit from Red Sea. My pH is at about 8.2 and my alk is around 3.5-3.7 meq/L . On the Alk test kit it says that anything above 2.8 meq/L is High, but i heard that a good range is between 2.8 to 4. Should i be...
