I am new to the forum here and need your help. I have noticed something attached to my green mushrooms today. It’s slow moving and is pale pink in color. Any ideas?

The 37 gallon Sea Max has been up for 2 years. Mushrooms are only 6 months new in tank.

Thank you!

I purchased the coralife super skimmer 65gal in february and have had no problems. I clean out the cup weekly, never overflows. I clean the pump every 3 weeks. On saturday I dumped out the cup and rinsed it out like I always have. But when I plugged it back in, the collection cup filled up almost immediately with white bubbles and clear water. Normally i could see through the big main chamber, under the cone where the bubbles first come out. But now almost the entire main chamber is filled with bubbles and i cannot see through it at all. I have turned the water level adjustment dial very slowly to the closed and open positions and still cant get the collection cup to stop filling up so fast. I’ve been reading forums about this and have tried cleaning the bubble diffuser and pulling up the black sponge…nothing seems to work. One forum said that i need to adust the "Needle wheel adjusment valve (above the water pump)". I don’t seem to have this on my skimmer. I looked up the coralife instruction manual pdf file and it has a section in it for the needle wheel adjustment valve, but my inst. manual that came with my skimmer does not have this section.

Can someone please help me?

I have had a tank for 15 years. Some of my inhabitants are over ten years old!!! My corals are all doing great except for lately, frog spawns are losing pods one by one. And how i mean that is, The coral in its whole is doing wonderful. Growing fast and looking how they should. The frog spawns grow so fast that i keep fragging them and putting them in multiple spots. But, head by head, they seem to be dieing off. Its wierd. I have one normal frog spawn, and two green ones. They were split about 8 months ago. In the last two weeks, the heads on only 1 green and one brown are dieing off. The other green one is doing better than even. Its not water parameters in my mind. I feel something is attacking them. Now it looks like something got the hammer coral. This is a 5 years old large hammer. It has done well the whole way thru. never one problem with it. it seems like something got it last night or threw out today. Hard to tell. ive been working long days. all other softies are fine. I worried something has taken a liking to the corals and is feasting. I have not introduced anything in the last 6 to 8 months. I have a blue tang, yellow tang, foxface, strawberry dotti back. bengii cardinal, green chromis, tomato clowns, mandarin goby, watchmen goby. australian red leg hermit crabs. some fire shrimp. urchins.

I would think that if it was a disease it would affect all softies, or at least all the heads on the frogs. One by one seems a little suspicious. Any thoughts?

Warren…

I’ve noticed one of my liverocks slowly being eaten away by something and I’m a little worried:
I’ve taken a couple of photos of it.. seems the rock goes all white then starts sinking in:

and

There’s a tiny mantis shrimp inside the rock too, so I’m not sure if he’s contributing to it or not. (I’m still undecided about the mantis shrimp – I wouldn’t know how to get rid of him anyway) – but what should I do to stop this green/white stuff from eating it all away?

————

Also.. anyone know what this is that’s growing off my live rocks?
It looks nice.. so curious what it’s called and hoping that it’s beneficial – got a few growing off another live rock and they look like pretty little trees with featherduster style ends.

Appreciate all feedback and thoughts!

Hey everyone,
So i was pretty optimistic starting out with a new reef tank and I enjoyed it for a while, it was quite beautiful, then I had a hair algae outbreak. I scrubbed, water changed, the whole lot, and eventually it started to go away only to be replaced with Red Slime Algae. I am getting ready to throw in the towel because the tank is starting to loose its visual appeal. Is this normal?

I am going to list my complete setup in hopes that someone can pinpoint what is wrong and what is causing the algae to spiral out of control.

Equipment
20 Gallon Tall Tank (Not near a window)
Lighthouse Light by Catalina Aquariums (Dual 35 Watt I believe?) – On a timer from 8-6
Marine Land Bio-Wheel Power Filter 150 w/ Chemi Pure and Filter Floss
Whisper 5 Gallon Internal Filter with Poly Filter Cartridge
Aquatech Power Head 170 GPH
75W ViaAqua Glass Heater

Livestock –
2 Clowns
1 Green Mandarin
1 Yellow Watchman Goby
2 Emerald Crabs
20 Nassarius Snails
6 Turbo Snails
1 Red Starfish
I had a sea haire who ate quite a bit of algae and died a couple days later – Cause unknown

Corals -
Galaxia Coral
2 Kenya Trees
1 Medium Red Sponge Tree (Becoming covered in hair algae)
Medium GSP Frag
1 Toadstool Coral
1 Small Zoa Frag (Keep having to clean the red algae off of it)
1 Medium Mushroom
1 Small Mushroom

I am doing a roughly 20 – 30% water change once a week with RO Water and IO Seasalt and Kent Osmo-Prep and Calcium supplements.

My current water conditions are
20 Nitrate
0 Nitrite
120 Alkalinity
8.4 PH

Please someone tell me there is hope!

So I'm pretty new to saltwater aquariums and I need some advice.

So I’m pretty new to saltwater aquariums and I need some advice. I bought an etablished tank, but I want to take it further. Here’s what I have,

29 gallon tank with…
-Hang on Filter (Marineland Emperor 280 with a bio-wheel)
- Heater (THEO UL Heater 150W)

It has…
-about 35 pounds of live rock
-about 2 inches of sand (looks more like crushed shells)
-Two Ocellaris Clownfish
-One Peppermint shrimp, one Fire shrimp, two small hermit crabs and three turbo slugs

Is the filtration for this tank adequate, I’m going to get a protein skimmer and some better lighting, and a powerhead soon. What else do I need for a healthy tank.
I might want to make it a reeftank soon, is this a good idea?

I Also, I put in two Green Chromis a couple weeks back, but both died. They seemed sick from the start. My second peppermint shrimp also died (I bought these at the local petland, not sure if it’s a good place for aquariums). But my tank seems fine, I added my second clownfish two weeks ago and it’s doing great, and the water tests came back normal, any ideas?
