Hi all! I just started my daughter’s 14 Oceanic Nano cube on the 14 of September. I added live sand to cover a depth of 1.5 inches on the bottom. 5 days later added 18 lbs of cured live rock. I lessened the amount of rocks to about 11 lbs on the 27th of August since the tank looked a little too crowded. I’ve been performing 50% water changes every week. pH and salinity have been stable. Nitrate levels have been 0 but ammonia levels have always remained at 8.0. A single Damsel was placed in the tank and died in 1 day.

Summary of setup. Started nano tank live sand – 1 month ago
Live rock addition – 3 weeks ago
Reduced amount of live rock 2 weeks ago
50% water change – every week

My question is, how much longer should it take for the tank to cycle? Cycling would be more rapid with the addition of live rock and sand. The reason I started early was to have the tank ready for my daughter’s b-day on the 24th of this month.

Much advise would be greatly appreciated.
