New tank help
I bought a new nano cube 28g HQI a few days ago; this being my first saltwater tank I asked the LFS what the easiest way to do it. I bought 30 pounds live sand 12 pounds live rock (going to buy more later) and a box of aquarium salt. I filled the aquarium halfway and added salt til the hydrometer hit midpoint 1.022 and then dumped the sand in. I waited 3 hours and then put the live rock in but the tank was still murky; I left it and later found out my brother "helped" me by filling the rest up with fresh water. I added more salt and left it for a day.
Its now day 3 and the water is still murky, so my question is this…. I just got the protein skimmer working so is that the problem with the murkiness or is it just a little while to wait. Also, does the live rock have any issues being in half fresh, half salt water for 3 hours give or take or should I do something to them? Overall I’m new to saltwater so would appreciate the help.
P.S. sorry its long but the more information means better help.
