Hello all, Ive recently decided that i was bored with fresh water aquariums… So in turn ive started a reef aquarium. Now im completely new to most of this and it seems as though theirs no specific way to do this but i want to make sure im not messing anything up to bad. Ive collected info from people at stores, books, internet. Either way, i would like to list my setup and see if its okay or not. I have a 29 gal tank( 24x12x24) I have a 1 inch sand bed from live sand. I have about 30 pounds of live rock. It has two power heads, and a mechanical filter that does about 250gph. all thats in the filter is just a filter, no carbon. So i believe im moving water good enough. No protein skimmer though. Im not sure if i need it or not?? I have a power compact on top, 2 bulbs 65 watts each(one blue one white) The live rock has been in for a week. Im waiting for the tank to cycle… which im not sure how long this will take. I need to get a ammonia test kit i suppose. The kit i have doesnt do amonia. Temp is at 78.5, and ph at 8.2. I used DI water to fill it. And last night i noticed some worms in the tank. maybe a half a cm long and almost clear/white. I believe this to be good as well. So if this seems okay please let me know, but if i need to change something or add Something please help me out. I figured now is a good time to make sure while im waiting to cycle the tank. Thanks to all, -C-rosby
