Cycle Help
I setup my tank last Saturday 65 gallon with 70 lbs live sand, 75 lbs cured live rock. I have a sump/refug with 10 lbs ecco mud, GFO and carbon in reactor and a coralife protein skimmer I will be upgrading soon (hopefully).
So tank was setup on Saturday, on Tuesday evening I place a frozen cocktail shrimp in my tank along with 5-6 flakes of fish food. On Wednesday morning the skimmer was dark. On Wednesday evening I removed the shrimp and tested my levels:
Ammonia = 0
Nitrite = 0
Nitrate = 1.5 – 2
My question is do I need to put the shrimp back in for longer? How long do I leave it in? What levels should I receive before taking it out? These levels are not bad I think, I am assuming my tank has not fully cycled yet.
Any help would be appreciated.
