Current Outer Orbit 24" 280 Watt Good/Bad?

Fixture is 3 year old, used for a year, bulbs replaced and then placed on a self for 2 years.

The tank is a 46 g bowfront with a ~20 inch depth and 36 in length. My question is this a decent lighting solution for this tank or should I really be looking at a 36 inch fixture? and because I know you will ask I would like to do stony corals at some point.
