Coralline algae not spreading to a rock.

I have a little Pico SW tank that’s been going about two months. I have two live rocks in there, one was purple with coralline algae and the other wasn’t when I bought them.

The tank has nice coralline growth. Plenty of it on the tank walls, in the filter, on shells, etc. However, the other rock hasn’t had any noticeable or detectable growth of coralline algae. I’m not really too concerned, but I am curious as to why that would be.

I don’t know the origination of the rock, but it is natural rock, whitish in color, looking like other reef coral rock I’ve seen.

Any other inanimate objects I put in have coralline algae growing on it in a few days. I’d appreciate your insight.
