I may have made a mistake. I just setup a tank, and my wife fell in love with some sea horses. I asked the shop owner (he knows my tank setup), and he said they would make a great addition. So I bought all 3 of them in the tank ($180).

It was "touch and go" for about 8 hours. They were doing their heavy breathing bit, and seem to be fine now, exploring the tank and all. I attempted to feed them the next morning, and they seemed interested, but never took a bite (that I saw). I will try feeding them tonight at close to 24 hours after the drop last night. *fingers crossed*

However, I just began to wonder if we had a male/female couple in the tank and might be looking at seahorse babies in the future. I searched the forum, and came up with a thread, expressing how difficult it is to raise sea horses in captivity. They seem to be doing ok, and if they eat tonight, I’m in the clear… right? How do I know if things are starting to go downhill? Anyone experienced with sea horses in here? I just feel panicked now… like I may have stepped in too deep.

I purchased the coralife super skimmer 65gal in february and have had no problems. I clean out the cup weekly, never overflows. I clean the pump every 3 weeks. On saturday I dumped out the cup and rinsed it out like I always have. But when I plugged it back in, the collection cup filled up almost immediately with white bubbles and clear water. Normally i could see through the big main chamber, under the cone where the bubbles first come out. But now almost the entire main chamber is filled with bubbles and i cannot see through it at all. I have turned the water level adjustment dial very slowly to the closed and open positions and still cant get the collection cup to stop filling up so fast. I’ve been reading forums about this and have tried cleaning the bubble diffuser and pulling up the black sponge…nothing seems to work. One forum said that i need to adust the "Needle wheel adjusment valve (above the water pump)". I don’t seem to have this on my skimmer. I looked up the coralife instruction manual pdf file and it has a section in it for the needle wheel adjustment valve, but my inst. manual that came with my skimmer does not have this section.

Can someone please help me?

I have a converted 39 gallon eclipse system that I have used for saltwater the past two years with biowheel, two power heads and extra side filter. No matter what I do in a matter of days the tank glass is covered with algae. I have tried everything.Water tests always show everything within balance too. Part of me thinks its because its a small underequipped tank with no skimmer or sump. Or is this just a part of keeping a salt water aquarium of any size?

I am seriously considering upgrading to a red sea max 65 gallon or some other setup at least 65 gallons. Is the saying the larger the tank the less small maintenance true? Should I give up now or consider moving up in tank size and equipment? This algae thing has me at wits end. Will upgrading solve my problem or is scraping algae from a tank a daily thing regardless of tank size and equipment?

Thanks so much for your advice
