A few days ago I ran into this article while searching on ways to control nitrates without doing water changes. I know there are other benefits to water changes, but my main concern here was to reduce nitrate levels before a water change is scheduled.

At any-rate, I became concerned when I was showing 40 ppm yesterday morning (about 2 weeks before I had a scheduled water change). So, after running into the above article, I ran to Lowe’s, purchased and installed the equipment. After running it only half a day, I have the results the next morning: nitrates 20 ppm. They did a 50% drop with only half a day exposure.

I’ve had my bubblt tip anamone for about two weeks now. I also have a pair of percula clowns. The clowns have shown no interest in the anemon at all. Is there anything i can do to help that relationship along?

I was wondering if anyone knows of any great sand sifting fish. I have a goby that looks like an engineer goby, but it has more tiger-like stripes. Any way, he does a good job but mostly behind the reef. I am looking for somthing for the sand bed.
