I am doing research on the LED lights before I actually try and build a new light set up.

I have a 125gal reef tank (200 lbs) rock, just moved everything into this new tank, have a power compact on it right now, no coral yet. I have been in saltwater for 12 years, so I am not new to this. tank is doing great been up almost 2 months getting purple coraline growing, I just setup my old 75gal as a hospital tank, and I am starting to plan out my refugem (spelling ?) that will attach to my sump

I have 2 – 250watt MH pendants, instead of buying new bulbs for MH I thight I night try the LED option.

My questions are :

Has anyone tried using 10 watt white and blue LEDS opposed to the 1 watt configuartion.
Has anyone tried using 30 watt white and blue LEDS opposed to the 1 watt configuartion.
Has anyone tried using 50 watt white and blue LEDS opposed to the 1 watt configuartion.
Has anyone tried using 100 watt white and blue LEDS opposed to the 1 watt configuartion.

I was thinking of doing a bank of 3 – 100 watt white with 2 – 50 watt blue on a heat sink, or 3 – 50 watt white with 2 – 20 watt blue.

Maybe just 2 -100 watt white and 1 – 50 or 100 watt blue in the center.

Less bulbs might be cheaper (not sure), but would definately be easier to assemble

I would like to buy a frogspawn coral, what kind of lighting would I need to get if the frogspawn is 8" to 12" from surface?

I have a 35 gallon long tank and I dont need the whatever watts per gallon because I’d only have the intense lighting right over the frogspawn.

How can you tell if you need to replace your bulbs. Do you start getting algae growth (diatoms)? Also if there is a difference when you have a fowlr?

Have anyone ever had any lighting by catalina aquarium. I am thinking of buying 2 retrofit 250w metal halide kits from them. There prices are really good, but I’m wondering about quality. Any comments would be appreciated.

Hi, I have a coralife fixture with PC lights and moon light leds, and I was wondering if you can retrofit it for LED lights instead of the PC’s?

Alright so i found some PCs and bulbs for cheaper than T-5s but i’ve heard that they fall out of spectrum fast, whats wrong with losing a bit of blue until you change the bulb? And also that they are incapable of keeping nems, is this true? if so im getting the t-5s or might bite the bullet and go with some Halides

and for bulbs i was thinking 1x Aquablue + 1x Midday 1x Actinic + and 1x Pure Actinic

if any1 has had experience with this fixture please let me know how it works or if there is a better fixture /bulb combo out there for around the same price post that too..

Is a 108 watts of t5 ho lighting enough wattage for soft coral in a 55 gallon tank.I have 160 watts right now but they are normal output bulbs would this be a good upgrade.Could i have lps corals too but not sps.There selling T5 fixture with 2 bulbs for 45 dollars at aquatraders.com
