Black Trigger
Goldenback Trigger
Clown Filefish
Yellow Tang (came with the tank )
Mimic Tang
Scribble Angelfish
Queen Angelfish
Blueface Angelfish

I did lose my puffer after having him for 7 years, that was a sad day. But in one of my smaller tanks I am raising a Mappa puffer

The tank was built using the shells from Ikea cabinets with a frame built on the inside. All pumping equipment is located below the tank in the garage.

Me and my wife are about 6 months in and thought I would like to share some photos of our progress. Since I we started out with a fowlr take for the first 2 months and decided to go reef. We upgraded to 2 250w MH lighting from Power compacts These photos were taken under 20k lighting, built a new stand and canopy and added about 50lbs more LR. These were taken with a Nikon coolpix 8000, when my father in law gets back from Germany he’ll let me use his Nikon D90 and I’ll be able to get better pix.

Me and my wife got tired of the look of our wood stand and canopy. We wanted something very simple. After looking at our local pet shops and lfs, we didn’t see anything we liked. So we decided to build our own. So we spent about $125 and about 1 1/2 days work and this is what we made. I have 2 250w halide lights put into the canopy. Although I was very nervous about breaking our tank down and moving it onto the new stand (about 4 very stressful hours) we are very happy with the result. Tell me what you think

Just broke down my breeder system and I was really depressed so I broke down one of my sumps and cleaned it up… already had it drilled for sump useage so all I had to do was slap on an overflow box and transfer sand and rock from my other systems… I didnt realise how much I had until I brought the rock to the store to trade in for credit.
I had over 700 lbs of rock and I have no clue how much sand (4-6 inch sandbed with great amounts of baserock for jawfish in a 150 gal tank… you do the math. It hurts my head) I still have more rock than any one 55 gal should EVER have but I wanted to make sure I had what I needed. I traded just around 60 lbs of the rock for credit to get fish in the tank and the rest went on craigslist… there are some very happy people out there right now… I dont think I realized just how many copepodes can fit in one rock! THey went crazy in my tanks and I didnt even know it until I broke down the systems.
Now my brand spanking new 55 gal reef (if you can call it that) has been born! All I have are the corals I hadnt sold yet (5 of them) 2 clowns, pistel shrimp, yellow watchman, canary blenny, bicolor, and the cleaner crew I transfered from my system (hermits, aerowcrab, one very large mithrax crab that scared the shit out of my husband when he lifted a rock and he was suddenly nose to nose with him and one coral banded shrimp,) The setup isnt as beautiful as my old 125 gal and not nearly as intreaging as my breeder system, but I need cheering up so I will be posting pictures of it and taking suggestions on additions to my family. This is strictly peaceful setup. Reef with blennys and gobys, but I hope to have it running like my other systems soon. (cant find the pump I had on my protein skimmer so my hopes may get dashed if I dont kind it soon!!!)

Ok so I got tired of taking care of my 10g FOWLR and 12g reef in addition to the 40g reef (so many tanks = too many clowns :clown: ) ……………

So I bought a 30g cube and the plan was to merge the 10g FOWLR and 12g reef into the 30g. But……… after switching the LR around in my 3 tanks ( i wanted only hard coral in my 40g) and emptying the 10g … I just didnt have the energy left to empty the 12g… And, really dont why to get rid of the orange clowns (my 1st fish after years of no SW)….so ….. why not just keep em for now. :eyes:

So now I still have 3 tanks ……….

I figure I better start a thread to track my 30g since I still dont have the energy or desire to empty out the 12g.

I have been wanting to upgrade my 46 bowfront to a 75 gallon and I did it this weekend. Found a decent tank on craigslist with a pine stand and brought it home Sat and spend the afternoon cleaning up the tank and stand. The tank is RR and in good shape. The stand while structurely sound has seen better days. Both were rather nasty and required several hours of cleaning.

I spend the entire day Sunday breaking down the 46 bowfront tank and moving the livestock in buckets or large trashcans. We moved the 46 to the front porch and put the 75 in it’s place. By this time I’m pooped but still needed to move the livestock into the 75. After moving the rock in, acclimating the fish etc and pulling in all the water from the old tank plus about 20 gallons of new water, I’m about a half inch below the RR opening. Darn it, need about 20 or so gallons for the sump. I added a couple of power heads and called it a night.

Yesterday I collected RO water and mixed hopefully enough water and will be getting the sump operational tonight. What a job but love the larger size of the 75.
