Now I’ve had the tank set up for roughly 2 years now, stated it with LS and LR. At one point I had a bad bloom of rock anenome and ended up replacing all my LR 
I had about 9 different pieces of coral at the time, and was told not to use peppermint shrimp or copper banded butterfly, as they would eat my coral as well. After getting rid of all that LR, I still ended up with more Rock Anenome, I said to screw it and bought the peppermint shrimp and the butterfly, and they worked like a charm cleaning up the tank. Making me wish I hadn’t gotten rid of all the previous LR.
Since then all my coral except one has died, a huge mushroom looking piece. After doing some reading throughout several of the forums, I am realizing I for one need more circulation. I’m also wondering if I need to completely change out my filteration system I have quite a bit of algae that I end up fighting as it builds up on the sand and glass, despite my roughly 40 snails and half dozen crabs.
So any suggestions, as I would really like to get a nice reef system set up, and seem to keep dumping good money after good money into this tank, and getting extremely frustrated after 2 years. Especially when I see people get a beautiful system up and running anywhere from 6 months to a year. At this point I can tell you that I’ve easily spent probably close $4K in my tank, stand, and everything that I’ve put in it and replaced.
Please help, the wife is going to kill me soon, as I am trying not to give up.
