First off hello to everyone, I am new here and to saltwater tanks. I have a 55 gallon tank setup for 9 months with a niger trigger, marroon clown, snowflake eel, about 40lbs of live rock, lots of mushrooms that started from just a few, yellow finger leathers, and a white leather. Ph is 8.3, nitrites and nitrates 0 but ammonia is at 1ppm. Lighting is T-5 double 48" for 8 hours not sure of type of bulb but the fish store is a saltwater fish store and they set me up with what I needed for the tank as I get everything from them so they know what I got. I run a wet/dry and a 10 gal refugium with the green net looking algae(forgot the name), and a protein skimmer in it. I also have 3 turbo snails, 2 margarita snails, 6 nesarius snails, and a blue leg hermit that is growing well and now in a margarita snail shell. I have red slime algae, green hair algae, and now a black slimey weby algae. I have scrubbed all the rock out of the tank 3 times to remove as much of the green hair algae as possible since this is the first algae that grew out of control. Then came the red slime I think it is the cyno bacteria. And now this black stuff appeared 2 weeks ago and no matter how much I clean and net this algae out of the tank it comes back almost overnight. Any help is much appreciated as the store I use keeps telling me it will go away on it’s own with routine cleanings but it seems to not be getting any better only worse. This last time I was there they sold me some carbon to put into the filters to help with the ammonia as this was never a problem before. I have them test the water periodically to double check my testing abilities. also temp is constant 78.
Thank you
