I have a 39 gallon tank that it seems I can never get rid of my green algae. Is algae just a way of life for all aquariums or is it possible to elliminate it completely? My two clowns don’t seem to mind (over 1 year) but it definitely is not a very pleasant tank to look at. I recently switched from regular tap to RO water (about 6 months ago) and things seemed to get worse. Also I have tried different temps and light exposures, with minimal luck. I was recently told that a phosphate remover and adding calcium could drastically improve the situation. Any advice on these? Sometimes I just feel like starting over completly or just calling it quits. I have also been told a protein skimmer might help, but for such a small tank could cause other issues. Water movement is not a problem as I have 3 power heads and two separate filtration systems moving water. Thanks guys
